Happy Holidays from the Kopp Family

We hope you enjoy our online Christmas letter!  I'll share a few things we've been up to in 2022, and at the end I'll give you a preview of something I have cooking for 2023.  Hint: Yours truly will soon be a politician!  Have a great holiday season everyone.  -  J.D.

Christmas Time

Here we are gathered in Tomahawk between Christmas and New Year's last year.  Both Jack and Alyssa are in high school now.

Confirmation

Here is Alyssa with her confirmation class,  where they learned about faith, doubt, love, and the difference between Martin Luther and Martin Luther King, Jr.  I was honored to serve as the adult guide for her small group during this two and a half year faith journey.

“I hope it's really bloody - with nice, clear picture!”

— Specs, Newsies

Alyssa played the role of Specs in the 8th grade production of "Newsies" last spring.  Of course she was a "scene stealer" each time she had a line, and she did some pretty impressive dancing as well.

Jack and the Bay Port swim team boys after winning the conference championship.

They have tons of fun on the swim team.  Here's a pretty funny prank involving the "wet floor" sign.

For spring break we took a trip with Grandma & Grandpa Kopp to the Everglades and the Florida Keys.  Lots of boats and water fun, and awesome restaurants!

50 Years Married!

In May we threw a party for Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary.  Somehow we managed to keep it a surprise!

Pontoon Party

In the summer we rented a pontoon in the Hayward area with Grandma & Grandpa, Angie, Linda and Brock.  Of course Brock was our captain!

Jack beats his Dad at chess...

...again.  And again.  And basically everytime we play.

I performed in two organ concerts this year.  For this one Alyssa helped by turning pages and pulling stops for me.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

— Munising, Michigan

IMG_1619.JPG

Our trip to the Pictured Rocks was a weekend getaway.  We took a boat tour to see all the rock cliffs, and then hiked on them the next day.

Bridesmaids!

Amy and her sister Anne stood up for Allie and Calvin's wedding.  Here they are getting ready on a rainy morning.  It was an outdoor wedding, and it was a good thing the rain stopped in time for the afternoon ceremony.

Here is a crew getting ready for an October Packer game.  It was great to see the Badger marching band for halftime and the 5th quarter, as the Packers didn't really show up to play that day.

Vote for J.D.

I've decided to run for Village President in Howard (similar to mayor in cities).  It is a three year term with the election on April 4, 2023.  There might be a primary in February depending on how many people run.  If you are interested in learning why I'm running, you can read more on my campaign website.

I'm asking friends and family to support my campaign this holiday season with a financial contribution.  My goal is to raise at least $15,000 and I would greatly appreciate your help.  You don't need to be a Howard resident, just a U.S. citizen.  The payment website may ask to collect your name, address, occupation and employer.  These are needed for my campaign finance reporting.  Thank you so much for your donations!
